So this past summer when I couldn't get an iPhone because I was still in my contract with Verizon so I had to wait until the fall to buy one. But then they came out with the iPod touch and the wife put the kibosh on any apple purchases until I can convince her that Steve won't come out with something within three months to replace it. (when she bought me the Bravia she had the guy at the Sony Style Store promise that they weren't going to come out with something better within the year - When the SXRD came out I had to keep her from going to the store because rear projection doesn't hang and swivel like our beautiful Bravia).

So I needed to test out the iPhone without buying it. Well, as I said this is the poor man's Pogue so I don't get the latest greatest dropped on my doorstep to check out so I surrounded myself with impulsive, rich or single friends. So I logged some good time on the iPhone. My sour grapes review was twofold.

1 - the interface is cutting edge and the best thing about the phone.

2 - the EDGE network isn't fast enough for my surfing (mostly wikipedia)

And now for Christmas I have to figure out get the perfect companion to my G5 iPod.

Enter myvu a personal media viewer. The best thing I've seen so far is the website shows a simulator which makes the viewable space the same as a 46-inch TV from 5 feet - any bigger and you might get nauseous.

Check out the site and if you get one let me borrow it so I can write a review of it.

I got my friend (the friend who let me log the most hours on his iPhone) iPhone: The Missing Manual by none other than David Pogue.
